Editorial: THE “F” BOMB- Has It Finally Arrived?
admin @ May 16, 2009 # No Comment Yet
It can take years to break through in popular culture. Just ask any non-Idolesque singer. Ask any musician, actor, artist etc. Getting the word out there can be a long and arduous task and raw talent or appeal is not always a deciding factor. Timing is everything we are told, being in the right place at the right time. That of course implies luck as a factor, or “getting your big break” as some put it.
Others will say that you make your own breaks.
I’m sure it’s a combination of everything. Even heathens like myself like to imagine that every once in a while the “forces” align and something comes of it. Of course we heathens also like to believe that outside of science, there are no forces, and that the studies of alignment and coincidence are simply things people do to pass the time and to make themselves look much cleverer than they actually are.

Remembering Vancouver’s Missing Women
admin @ April 2, 2009 # No Comment Yet
On Monday March 30th, at 12 in the afternoon, a small crowd of about thirty people gathered outside the University Avenue courthouse in Toronto to remember Vancouver’s Missing Women. Within the last twenty years, over 500 Aboriginal women and girls have gone missing in Canada. On Monday, at an event planned by Robyn Bourgeois and Robbyn Zwaiggenbaum of CAVE (Coalition Against Violence Everywhere), activists and students gathered to pay respect and commemorate the lives of the 76 women who have gone missing from or been murdered in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside since 1978. An alarmingly high proportion of these women have been Aboriginal. Although Aboriginal women make up less than 1% of the population of Vancouver, they represent one-third to one-half of Vancouver’s Missing Women.

Spot Report:Montreal Pro-Coaltion Rally, Sat., Dec.6
admin @ December 8, 2008 # No Comment Yet
“Montreal, PQ, Canada - The Montreal rally was attended by over one thousand people. There was a mix of labor leaders who support the coalition, members of Quebec’s Union des Artistes which is the French language equivalent of SAG and Gilles Duceppe the leader of the Bloc Quebecois, the federal separatist party. Prime Minister Harper’s has used fear to suggest that the coalition is not legitimate because Canadians didn’t vote for a coalition during the last election which took place on October 14, 2008. However, since Harper’s party only won a minority and by the rules of Canadian democracy a minority government must receive the support of the majority of parliament to continue to exist, the coalition is in fact legally and democratically valid.”

Will Marketing My Marijuana Med - Grow Charges Make Me Money?

Will Marketing My Marijuana Grow Charges Make Me Money?
~ Matt Mernagh
Everyone loves good courtroom drama.
Combining this with my marijuana grow-op bust which also brings big media headlines an opportunity to market my upcoming (Summer 2009) blockbuster medical marijuana constitutional challenge appears to be
ganja golden.
Charismatic med-cannabis infused alt-weekly journalist (cannabis / war resisters beat) with a Gen X criminal defense lawyer angling to create a name with an incredibly articulate constitutional challenge is hot copy.
Especially in the middle of the dog days of July.
Sidewalks crammed with those big media tents, with newscasters doing mid day noon hour courtroom commentary, and friends pitching in words of wisdom for the throng of print journalist seeking quotes would be awesome.
