Election Day Alternatives From GlobalPundit.Org - and We’re Nuts Enough to Offer a Prediction, too…
Frankly. there’s no point in writing or chasing anything you’re already going to see on every newspaper and every newscast - SO here’s what we’re doing, and here’s our recommendation…
We’re visiting polling stations in Cook County, IL all morning - among many other things - watch for our LIVE FEEDS at various points throughout the day (and they’ll be archived) at WWW.THEUPTAKE.ORG
at the same time, when I can, i’ll be uploading photography raw and unedited and likely untagged and unnamed - and it will be all posted either througout the day when I can get a breather - or one fantastic barrage after 1 AM Central Time at our GLOBALPUNDIT.ORG FLICKR SITE .
As well , you can follow the minutiae that is Twitter since i’m certain to have some great updates and notices throughout the day. If you decide to join us and follow us on Twitter, drop us a message and let us know if there’s anything you’d like to see and we’ll point our cameras, live cameras, or anything else at it…

McCAIN’S MISOGYNY & FEAR KEEP PALIN ON TIGHT LEASH
admin @ September 8, 2008 # One Comment
During Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech when nominated by John McCain for Vice President, McCain wouldn’t leave Palin alone on stage. Rather than give her the momentary limelight, McCain peered over her shoulder and read her speech alongside her. He was visibly nervous and has remained so ever since. Other than Wednesday at the RNC when Palin finally appeared solo, the image of McCain hovering authoritatively over her is the constant at every appearance. McCain’s public subjugation of Palin, and her public acceptance of it, sets male-female advancement back decades. Were Palin truly a trusted and powerful woman she’d request and be granted autonomy on stage, and reject McCain’s Taliban-like presence. All that’s missing is her burka.

Democratic National Convention - the day before:
After the typical flight delays, baggage claims hassles, and 96 hours straight of “awakeness”, we’re here in Denver - and although this kind of post , the “i just wanted to say we have nothing at the moment to say”- is generally kind of lame.
So for the moment I’d like to [...]

SOMETIMES THE ENQUIRER IS RIGHT or A How-To In Becoming A Media Consumer
admin @ August 10, 2008 # No Comment Yet
John Edwards brushing us off by using the catch phrase “supermarket tabloid” is somewhat ironic. In a supermarket at least 15,000 products line the shelves and coolers. We pick them up, read food labels, touch, squeeze, smell and sometimes sneak a sample before we buy. Are we less consumers of media? If you answered yes, then stop it. Stop it now. Become an educated consumer of media. Remember, if we don’t consume, we make cons of u and me.

Call to Action: General Strike Called for 9/11/08
admin @ July 26, 2008 # No Comment Yet
More and more people are calling for a General Strike, for a way to withdraw our support from a system which seems heedless to the will of the people. Our governmental representatives treat
us as if “We the Rabble” are to be ignored. One group, vote strike, is doing incredible and
substantive work in calling for a General Strike on 9/11/08, with smaller strikes and economic boycotts between now and then.
I urge you to consider this call to a General Strike, the use of non-violent resistance. It is a time-honored technique, possible beginning with “Lysistrata,” and effectively used several times in the
past one hundred years.
Perhaps the only effective action left to take now in order to stop the gears and levers of this lemming-like perpetual motion machine of destruction is—to do nothing. That’s right, nothing.
To go on strike.

“SMUG”
admin @ July 3, 2008 # One Comment
What is smug? How do so few public figures display it? How does one achieve it? Perhaps for many smug is a defense mechanism hiding insecurity, but that can be said for many things. People are always over compensating with something to disguise the lack of something else. So when you look for smug, make sure it’s the real thing. The real Trebek/Conrad/Oprah/Pope smug. Am I being smug in the writing of this article? Maybe a little. Just remember, you have to fight smug with smug.
