iPhone report: Reflections on the Inauguration‏

( ~the following is a quick report from John H. McManus, who will be filing parts 2 and 3 of his volunteer experience with the Obama Campaign in Delaware County, PA - as well as photos, video, and a full report of his experience at the Inuaguration. Stay tuned, as we have a LOT coming in the next 8 days - including interviews with reporters in Gaza, the state of media in Canada, Darfur, and lots more!)

The Inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United
States
was an emotionally charged event for me and the people I met
today.

I met people from all over the country since I arrived Sunday night
and they all spoke of our new President as a poltican that will engage
the country and bring us together as a people.

Today was a huge celebration of our democracy.

I was struck by two themes of President Obama’s speech. He gave a
sobering assessement of the challenges we face as a nation. But he
also expressed his faith in the American people and that we have
overcome great challenges before and we will achieve success as a
people.

It was a day that I will always remember and one that will be written
about for generations.
